2014 90 Second Newberys
In it's fourth year running, students read and summarize a Newbery Award winning
book, collaborate with peers to write a script for a 90 second summary, then
film or digitally create the 90 second film of the book.
90 second Newbery is a project that excites our students about quality literature, reading and literary analysis. This project allows them time to develop communication and leadership skills on a collaborative assignment. As the project has developed, it also allows creative development in tying multiple books together, creating new genres and interpretations of the books. It also affords students opportunities to explore new technologies.
90 second Newbery is a collaborative project, where all fourth through sixth grade students are paired with students they may never have collaborated with before. In addition to new partnerships, 90 second Newbery utilizes adult collaboration throughout the building including classroom teachers, ancillary staff, librarian and the Montessori Director.
